Social club gifts £345 to local children’s charity

Coton and Hopwas Social Club has gifted local children’s charity, Simon’s Heroes, £345 as part of its ongoing support for the cause.

The popular venue is a members’ club which is affiliated to the Club and Institute Union. During the past few years membership has risen to over 700. The club delivers a regular programme of weekly activities which includes Ladies Darts, Karate Club, Zumba classes, Bingo and Folk Club. It also hosts the village’s increasingly popular annual Summer Beer Festival as well as the Simon’s Heroes Abbott Trail Run.

The club has supported the charity for a number of years, offering the use of its premises and facilities for the group’s fitness training, charity quiz nights and social events and the storage of its marketing merchandise and collateral.

Club Manager, Clive Barker a.k.a ‘Jabba’, said: ‘We have been a big supporter of Simon’s Heroes since its beginning and have witnessed firsthand the fantastic work it does in the local community. We are proud to be so closely affiliated with such a great cause!’

Justin Haywood, Trustee of Simon’s Heroes, commented: ‘We cannot thank Jabba and his team enough for their ongoing support. We consider the club to be our charity’s base; somewhere we are all made to feel so welcome. The club’s kindness and generosity are invaluable to our charity.  Thank you so much!’
