Simon’s Heroes recognised as Community Group of the Year

Local children’s charity Simon’s Heroes is delighted to have won their category Community Group of the Year at the Spirit of Tamworth Awards last night.

Unsung heroes from across Tamworth attended the awards ceremony held at Drayton Manor. The event, now in its second year, is spearheaded by Tamworth Round Table and recognises the incredible and selfless work that so many people carry out in our community.

Matt Cann, Tamworth Round Table chairman said: ‘It is absolutely overwhelming to see such a high number of people put nominations forward and it has been really good to see the local community club together.’

Simon’s Heroes was recognised for the fantastic work it does providing resources and opportunities to local children with life limiting illnesses to help them lead more independent and fulfilling lives. The charity continues to grow from strength to strength and now has over 90 dedicated members who volunteer their time to help make a difference to children in need.

‘It really is a pleasure being a part of such an amazing group of people. There really are some truly inspiring people around. Thank you to everyone that voted for us.’ Craig Smith, member Simon’s Heroes.
