Banana Moon Day Nursery based in Baddesley Ensor has raised £428 for local children’s charity, Simon’s Heroes, thanks to the heroic efforts of five of its fantastic employees.
The group trekked up Mount Snowdon in August this year to raise funds for additional resources for the nursery which the nursery Directors Riann & Lee Parker pledged to match and gift 50% to a local charitable cause.
Snowdon is the highest peak in Wales at 3560 feet and the group climbed to the summit and back in just 5 hours! They raised £428 through generous donations from parents, friends and family members.
The nursery has previously raised funds in a number of exciting ways involving the children, staff and parents for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Myton Hospice and this time was keen to give back to a cause in the local community. Simon’s Heroes was nominated by a number of its employees and was the charity of choice.
Banana Moon Day Nursery is a good Ofsted rated children’s nursery which caters for children aged 0 to 5 years. It opened its doors in 2013 and takes great pride in creating strong links with the local community, ‘to create a world of memories and inspire a generation’. The purpose built nursery is light and airy with an in-house kitchen producing home-cooked nutritious food every day. The children also benefit from a secure outdoor playground and an exciting natural adventure area. The nursery also runs an external holiday club for 4 to 8-year-olds during the school holidays.
Justin Haywood, Trustee of Simon’s Heroes, said: ‘We are delighted Banana Moon Baddesley Ensor have chosen us as their beneficiary. Well done to their team for completing such a feat! We really do appreciate your donation. Your contribution will help us continue to improve the quality of life and make a positive difference to local children in need.’
Charlotte Clark, Manager of Banana Moon Day Nursery Baddesley Ensor said: ‘We are always keen to raise money for charitable causes and this year has been a particular success for all charities involved. I am very proud of the staff members who took part in the Snowdon climb back in August and would like to thank everyone who sponsored them to raise such a fantastic amount! We are delighted to present the funds to Simon’s Heroes to support their continuous work in providing opportunities for children with life limiting illnesses or those that are terminally ill.’
