A charity comedy night held at Hopwas Social Club on Friday 9th November has raised over £1200 for good causes.
The sell-out event, hosted by Mortified, Tamworth’s only stand-up comedy night, included 4 top acts who delivered an evening of hilarity in aid of Simon’s Heroes, Dun Roamin’ and Get Kids Going!
Comedy fans enjoyed performances from comedic legend, Sol Bernstein, who headlined the show, regaling them with his tales of the high life with the biggest names in showbiz, musings on how the world has changed and being an ordinary Jew with world-beating wit, unbounded talent and death-defying chutzpah!
He was supported by comedy impresario Theo Theobald who compèred the evening, observational comedy genius Clayton Jones, local stand-up Darren Mortiboy and Kevin Caswell Jones, whose comical storytelling has won him multiple gongs.
The event also included a hot meal, the ingredients for which were generously supplied and prepared by Hopwas Social Club and Bodnetts Farm Shop.
Charlotte Bull, Trustee of Simon’s Heroes children’s charity, said: ‘We are thrilled with the amount raised. Thank you to Darren Mortiboy of Mortified Comedy for the fantastic line-up he arranged for the evening and to the comedians for their support with our charity event. I’d also like to thank those charity members who helped organise and run the event, and Clive Barker of Hopwas Social Club for the use of his premises and for kindly preparing the food for the evening. Your ongoing support is invaluable to our charity.’
Darren Mortiboy from Mortified Comedy Tamworth, said: ‘These nights are awesome. Great line-up and when you have a dedicated team like Simon’s Heroes, there’s loads of money raised for charity!’
