Tamworth children’s charity Simon’s Heroes has been Highly Commended for its life-changing work in the community at the 5th annual Tamworth Business and Community Awards.
The event celebrates all that is good about Tamworth, from its small and larger businesses, to its residents, and reinforces what a fantastic town Tamworth is to do business and live in.
Simon’s Heroes won the Highly Commended award in their category, Community Group of the Year, which recognises the incredible work that so many organisations carry out in the local community. The charity, run by a team of volunteers, supports children with disabilities and life-limiting illnesses, helping them to lead more independent and fulfilling lives.
Winners of 15 categories across business and community, ranging from retailers to eateries and service businesses, to entrepreneurs and charity groups, were revealed at the black tie dinner held at Statfold Barn Railway Museum on October 4th. The evening was hosted by Radio Tamworth’s DJ, Simon Soude and attended by Tamworth’s Mayor, Richard Kingstone.
Guests were greeted with a complimentary glass of prosecco, followed by a three-course meal, the awards presentation, live comedy and disco.
Justin Haywood, Chairman, Simon’s Heroes, said: “We are so proud to be recognised for our work in the community and I’d like to thank our members and corporate sponsors for their ongoing dedication and support – you’re our lifeline. Congratulations to the other nominees in our category, all very worthy and deserving of the recognition. A very enjoyable evening.”
