A Tamworth girl has received life-changing horse riding equipment from a nearby charity group.
Jasmine Dowd, who suffered from focal and segmental Glomerular sclerosis from a young age, has been gifted a special protective jacket, insurance and more by Simon’s Heroes to allow her to ride again – after undergoing a kidney transplant four years ago.
Claire Holloway, Jasmine’s mum, said: “I am incredibly proud of Jasmine and her hard working, fearless outlook, and do not wish to ‘clip her wings’ and stop her enjoying her horse riding. It will always carry a risk, but I do not believe in living life ‘in case’ something should happen.
“An air jacket would seem to significantly protect her vulnerable new kidney.”
The 12-year-old has always been a keen horse rider and did her best to continue this hobby as much as possible during the years of her illness, but mostly it was too uncomfortable, mainly due to her dialysis tube in her stomach.
