Simon’s Heroes children’s charity has been highly commended for the fantastic work it carries out in the local community at The Radio Tamworth Awards, which celebrates the very best of Tamworth.
The charity, which supports children with disabilities and life-limiting illnesses, was shortlisted for the Charity of the Year award, which recognises the tremendous and selfless work that so many organisations carry out in the local community.
Simon’s Heroes narrowly missed out to another incredible cause, Changes Tamworth, a user-led mental health charity providing a recovery and wellbeing service to those in mental distress.
Radio Tamworth announced their highly commended and winners of the 14 categories at a black tie gala dinner held at Drayton Manor on June 7th. The evening included a four course meal and live entertainment from musicians Sheena Vultaggio, Ali Gilbert and Jimmy Eff.
Kurt Bartlett, trustee of Simon’s Heroes, said: ‘We are delighted with our accolade, it is a testament to all of the hard work and time that our charity members give to our cause, and to the difference we make. Thank you so much!’
‘We have had a fantastic evening celebrating with some very special people and are honoured to be recognised.’
Radio Tamworth’s Managing Director, Alex Farrell, said: ‘We had so many fantastic entries this year, and it is so good to see all the amazing work being done in Tamworth.
‘The judges felt that Simon’s Heroes was very deserving of this award for their tireless work making other people’s lives better.’
